BYTE team earned high rankings in the World Finals of the 2016 ACM-ICPC

BYTE team, belonging to the VNU University of Engineering and Technology, is one of two representatives from Vietnam to join The world finals of The 2016 The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest - ACM / ICPC, won the 29th position (the highest ranking of the Vietnam team ever) and gave Vietnam 14th place at the 2016 ACM / ICPC.

The ACM / ICPC 2016 attracted 40,266 contestants from 2,736 universities, 102 countries and territories, in 481 national and regional examination venues. As a result of continental qualifying round, basing on qualifying score and number of participating teams, the organization committee has selected 128 best teams reached the World Finals held from May 15, 2016 to May 20, 2016 in Phuket, Thailand. All teams from 128 top universities for Information Technology worldwide.

Remarkably, strong teams are the teams from world-famous universities such as MIT, Stanford, CMU (USA), the famous European schools: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg State University, The University of Warsaw, Belarusian State University, from Asia such as: Tsinghua University , University of Pekin , Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Tokyo, National Taiwan University.

In the Finals, BYTE team won the 29th position (the highest ranking of the Vietnam team ever) and gave Vietnam 14th place at the 2016 ACM / ICPC.

With the results of championship in qualifying place in Hanoi and the second rank in Bangkok, BYTE team from VNU University of Engineering and Technology has been selected to participate ACM / ICPC 2016 Finals. BYTE team includes three members Pham Van Hanh, Do Ngoc Khanh and Nguyen Tien Trung Kien. All of them are students in K60.

2016 is the 5th year when VNU University of Engineering and Technology team have achieved good results and reached The ACM-ICPC World Finals. Faculty of Information Technology belonging to VNU University of Engineering and Technology is the only unit assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training Affairs to coach Vietnamese national team attending the International Olympiad in Informatics. Achievement of Vietnam Informatics team continuously improved.

From 2006 to now, Vietnam continuously has the team in the ranking of Top 100 universities enrolled in the World Finals of ACM / ICPC. As a result, the ranking of the Vietnamese national team at the ACM / ICPC Finals has contributed significantly to improve the image and position of Vietnamese information technology field in the eyes to the world.
